|7 Days Budget Camping Kenya Safari
This 7 day safari will take you around Kenya where you will visit and camp in some of the finest wildlife parks and reserves available in Kenya. First you will visit the Maasai Mara, arguably Kenya’s most famous reserve with its abundance of wildlife as well as traditional Maasai culture. Thereafter you will tour the Lake Nakuru National Park, a haven for bird life as well as other wildlife and lastly the Samburu Game Reserve, a hot and arid wilderness teeming with abundant wildlife and birds.
Maasai Mara National Reserve
Maasai Mara (Maasai Mara) is known as one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves, situated in southwest Kenya and is part of the northern section of the Serengeti National Park. Famous for the abundance of the big cats, Lion, Leopard, Cheetah and the Great Wildebeest Migration and the Maasai people, well known for their distinctive custom and dress.
Lake Nakuru National Park
The park lies in Central Kenya, 140km north-west of Nairobi, in Nakuru district of the Rift Valley Province. The ecosystem comprises of the lake, surrounded by mainly wooded and bushy grasslands. The park supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos (Greater and Lesser) and other water birds being the major attractions of the area.
The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino and buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.
Samburu Game Reserve
This hot and arid wilderness is home to plenty of animals including the big five i.e. lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, leopard, and rhinoceros. Samburu National Reserve is also home to the endangered Grevy's Zebra and also gerenuks - all rare to find elsewhere. The park is also a haven for birth watchers as it boasts close to 400 bird species. It is connected, by way of a bridge, to the Buffalo Springs National Park.
Day 1: Nairobi – Escarpment Viewpoint – Narok - Maasai Mara National Reserve
You will depart from Nairobi at 1000hrs heading towards The Maasai Mara. You will make your first stop at the Escarpment viewpoint where you will have an expansive view of the Great Rift Valley below. From there you will proceed to Narok town, where you will have lunch and after that proceed to enter the Maasai Mara National Reserve and head to the campsite where you will stay. At 1600 hrs you will embark on an evening game drive until sunset and then return to the camp for dinner and to rest for the night.
Day 2 – Day 3: Maasai Mara National Reserve
You will have a full day at Maasai Mara consisting of game drives and a picnic lunch. You may also visit the Mara River to witness hippos and crocodiles. Other optional activities at a cost include; going on nature walks, bird watching etc.
Day 4: Maasai Mara Game Reserve – Lake Nakuru National Park
You will have an early morning game drive starting at 0630hrs till 0930hrs followed by a late breakfast. After breakfast, you will the depart the Maasai Mara, and proceed to Nakuru where you are expected to arrive in time for a late lunch at the budget hotel where you will be accommodated which is just outside the Lake Nakuru National Park.
After lunch you will enter the park to conduct a game drive. After the game drive which will end around sunset you will exit the park and return to the hotel for dinner and to rest for the night.
Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park – Nanyuki - Samburu Game Reserve
You will have an early breakfast and then proceed for a game drive inside Lake Nakuru National Park. After this you will exit the park and then drive towards the Samburu Game Reserve via Thomson's Falls with a brief stop at Nanyuki for late lunch. Once you arrive at the Samburu Game Reserve which you are expected to reach by 1830hrs you will be taken to your campsite where you will also have dinner.
Day 6: Samburu Game Reserve
You will start off with a pre-breakfast game drive at 0630hrs and about 3 hours later, return to the camp for a late breakfast. In the afternoon after lunch you will enjoy game drives at Buffalo springs from 1500hrs till sunset when you will return to the camp for dinner and to relax for the night.
Day 7: Samburu Game Reserve – Nanyuki - Nairobi
You will pursue an early morning game drive from 0630hrs -1000hrs, then a late breakfast, after which you drive back to Nairobi with a stopover at Nanyuki for Lunch. You will arrive in Nairobi before dark.
