Rock climbing in Kenya

 Climbing in Kenya has a long history and it is more than 100 years since Halford Mackinder did his amazing first ascent of Batian, the highest summit of Mount Kenya. Over the last 50-60 years, the main actors in Kenya (and East Africa) climbing scene have been local climbers like Eric Shipton and D. Cheesmond.

Mount Kenya is the most popular for mountain climbing, it’s the highest mountain in Kenya and the second highest in Africa, and it’s located across the equator with a height of 5,199 m and a snow-capped peak. White Water Kayaking in Kenya

Not a common sport in in Kenya but its popularity has steadily grown over the past ten years. Companies have come up dedicated to this thrill seeking adventure. Rivers like Athi have beautiful water rapids that are both easy to learn and enjoy. Tana River, the longest river in Kenya, also has very exciting rapids that are kayak able. In Sagana one can camp, rock climb, learn and kayak and even bunji jumping.

The Mathioya River will give experienced kayakers and rafters the ride of their life. Descending more than 450 meters in a matter of only 22 kilometers, it boasts a collection of the most technical rafting courses in Kenya. The water doesn’t prove especially big.
